We have bad and sad news in boxing again, as Carlos Ariel Barahona Fajardo, businessman and promoter from Yucatan, Mexico has passed away.
“Tiger” Barahona as he was known, was a man with a tremendous track record in the sport that has brought Yucatan great glory.
He will always be remembered for the promotion he organized in 1974 with Don Luís Pino Cardeña, which was the first bout for a world title that was held in Mérida, Yucatán. It was without a doubt the most important sporting event of that time. The fight was for the World Boxing Council bantamweight title between champion Rafael Herrera and Rodolfo Martínez.
The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaimán, pray to God to offer the family and many friends of Don Carlos sympathy. The memories “Tigre” leaves us are happy and eternal.
Rest In Peace
