The WBC joins women around the world in the search for equity and to make their voices be heard.” March 8 is International Women’s Day that commemorates the fight for gender equality and the empowerment of women. For that, we will begin a campaign in which our social media will publish different testimonies and tributes to the great women in boxing.
The WBC rejects any act of discrimination and abuse by joining the speech against gender-based violence. Therefore, we call the boxing family to join the various actions that we will carry out on the occasion of International Women’s Day where we will promote values and dignified treatment towards them. We invite all gyms in Mexico to join this protest respecting all women who decide to exercise their right to freedom of expression and manifestation. Let’s carry out an awareness exercise about the importance of women in our sport and society.
In addition to March 8, given the prevalent condition of violence against women in Mexico, at the World Boxing Council we stand in solidarity and join the national call #undiasinnosotras on Monday, March 9, which consists of women not going to the streets, workplaces, schools, universities or will leave their homes in order to show their importance for our society, economy and life in general, through their absence. “I want all the girls to know that their voice can change the world.” – Malala
