
The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaimán will pay tribute to emblematic champions, Argentine Marcela Acuña by presenting her with a special belt to recognize her career.
“Tigresa” has been the WBC super bantamweight champion, and her importance in Argentina has been decisive. Acuña fought a fight against Jamillia Lawrence in 2001, which was the first professional women’s boxing bout there.
Such is her importance in Argentine boxing that Marcela has the number 1 license as a professional boxer in Argentina.
This Friday at the Gala Hotel Convention Center, in Resistencia, Argentina, Acuña will face Lucrecia “Gringa” Arrieta, in what will be her boxing farewell.
This belt is a special recognition that the WBC is proud to give to “Tigresa” to recognize her great career with this trophy also honoring a great boxing country, Argentina.
