
In 2019, the WBC University educational platform was created, which integrates the most outstanding members of the world of boxing with the inspirational mission to professionalize our sport.
As part of the activities of WBC University, educational seminars are offered and one of the most successful has been that of Ring Officials. It has been shown that local commissioners who participate in these exercises significantly improve their performance.
This weekend, two successful events were held, one in Panama and the other in the United Arab Emirates.
In Panama, Alberto Guerra, Jimmy Salas, accompanied by one of the best Referees today, Héctor Afú, addressed some important issues that Referees must always keep in mind, when being appointed for a match. Fights were evaluated and also the correct filling of the score cards, was carefully explained.
On the other side of the world, in Dubai, Daniel Van de Wiele, Kevin Noone and Oksana Smenishina, who were appointed for the interesting duel for the WBC international super featherweight belt offered a successful seminar attended by more than twenty local commissioners, in conjunction with the Middle East Professional Boxing Commission
The Judges seminar was led by the knowledgeable and highly experienced WBC ring official, Mr. Daniel Van De Wiele, from Belgium.
The main objective of the seminar was to reinforce and improve then ability as a competent judge at local and regional boxing events. Daniel reviewed the key points of the ten point system, scoring punches, effective aggression and the internal protocols of the WBC in rounds with the concepts: close, moderate, decisive and very decisive.
Fights were watched and scored, individual rounds analyzed and group discussions with invaluable debate among all attendees about the details of scoring. A wonderful session.
