The WBC, together with Boxeo sin Cadenas program, and the teachers and authorities of the Penitentiary Service of Buenos Aires, Argentina, held a boxing clinic and delivery of diplomas in Unit 9 of La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires.
In the boxing gym of the most populated jail unit in La Plata, a day full of action and achievements. From an open boxing training class led by those responsible for the Zacarías Boxing gym, to exhibition matches between inmates of the unit and amateur boxers from that city, then the delivery of diplomas in recognition of those who have studied this course of the WBC and developed by “Boxeo sin Cadenas” (Boxing without Chains). Another great and memorable day of the WBC in the Argentine prisons.
Those responsible for the Comprehensive Assistance and Treatment Program for Young Adults – PIATJA – (inmates aged 18 to 21), were the ones who delivered the diplomas of the WBC “Initiation to Boxing Course” to prison students.
Present at the event were: the director of Unit 9, Ernesto Agüero; the Deputy Director, Cristian Ayestaran; the teachers of the unit: Sebastián Desocio, Micaela Ayestrán, Christian Fiz, Guillermo Ramos, Juan Manuel Stori and Diego Frigerio; the technical director from La Plata Gustavo Zacarías and Marcos Arienti, both representing “Boxeo sin Cadenas”. This program is directed by Martin Danese and coordinated by Antonela Schiantarelli.
Mauricio Sulaimán points out, team effort enhances individual results. And in this work within the Argentine penal units, that phrase from the President of the World Boxing Council resounds.
