Attention, stand at ease, but don`t take it easy!
Daniel Aceves Villagrán, Héctor and Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar made a courtesy visit to the General Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, to confirm that it`s nominated for the 2023 National Sports Award in the field of promotion, protection and encouragement of sports.
The President of the Mexican Olympic Association, Daniel Aceves Villagrán; The President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, and the head of Sports Values for Development and Peace, Héctor Sulaimán Saldívar, paid a courtesy visit to the four-star general to share the nomination with him. What a salute and an accolade!
This was presented to the Awards Council of the highest award granted by the Government of the Republic in sports and physical culture and is presented by the President of Mexico.
Aceves Villagrán highlighted the long tradition of supporting athletes in Mexico, since 1936.
He highlighted that SEDENA athletes have stood out for their dedication and perseverance, many of them are historical figures of Mexican sports; icons and role models for Mexican children and youth, who have been protagonists of true and fabulous and memorable athletic feats.
He pointed out that as a bastion of sports in Mexico, SEDENA has consistently worked hard promoting physical and sports activities of military personnel within the National Defense Sector Program 2020-2024.
SEDENA organized sporting events for military personnel and civilians, including two editions of the “Intersecretarial Baseball Tournament” and the “La Gran Fuerza de México” Sports Race, which was attended by 47,300 military and civilian runners. A beacon of achievement!
SEDENA teams have obtained the National Sports Award on 12 occasions, which demonstrates the commitment to promoting sports in Mexico, and its triumph.
Regarding pay, Army athletes receive the benefits to which all military personnel on active duty are entitled, according to their rank.
Through the organization of sports activities, SEDENA inspires, encourages and promotes sports activities among members of the Armed Forces and the civilian population, combatting illnesses related to a sedentary lifestyle like overweight and obesity.
