We continue to celebrate Mother’s Day with the perspective of “The Aztec Princess” and legendary world champion Jackie Nava.
In 2013, Jackie Nava became a mother, which represented not only a great challenge, but also a question of how maternity could be balanced with her boxing career.
She comments that although she thought about retiring, her first reaction was to keep in shape, slim back to fight weight and contemplate her future fights. So she continued to exercise, even going to run with her daughter in a stroller.
Jackie says that her husband has been the great foundation for her career since he has always helped her take care of her daughters when she trains and fights.
The first WBC champion in the women`s divisions, mentions that she has been able to convey to her daughters the fact that it is a sport and her job, because they have and hold a gentle, caring and adoring mother.
The Aztec Princess is preparing for her 48th fight, which she will contest in her hometown of Tijuana against Jasseth Noriega on May 28, days before her 21st anniversary as a pro. It will be her first fight since October 2021, when she defeated Mariana ´Barby´ Juárez by unanimous decision to win the World Boxing Council Diamond belt.
