The Alfredo Harp Helú Deporte Foundation received an International Peace and Sport award, in the category of best initiative of the year for the campaign called #6RUMBOAL6, for the activities held within the sphere of the International Sport for Development and Peace, on the 6th of April.
The director of the Alfredo Harp Helú Sport Foundation, Dr. Daniel Aceves Villagrán, received the award from the Peace and Sport organization, in a magnificent ceremony held in the Principality of Monaco.
“Our work is focused on improving the quality of life, social inclusion and a culture of peace in Mexico through the practice of sport and physical activity,” said fellow Olympic medalist Daniel Aceves.
The FAHH Sport led the campaign at the national level together with multiple allies with activities such as soccer, boxing, wrestling, volleyball, martial arts, physical conditioning, among others, which mobilized one million two hundred thousand people.
In this way, 6RUMBOAL6 was the key element of a sports social mobilization for an awareness that lasts throughout the year. Communities of girls, boys , as well as special athletes, were the main protagonists.
Another of the objectives was to commemorate April 6, raising awareness of the importance of sport and physical activation as a tool for health, inclusion, peace and development in society.
In addition to combating obesity and overweight in the Mexican population and generating alliances to multiply the benefits of sport for children and youth, the campaign sought to give young people more healthy alternatives to occupy their free time and make sport an instrument for positive values.
The values of the Olympic movement were resumed as an exemplary philosophy of life; The initiative promoted friendship by adding work with organizations promoting understanding and overcoming the differences between the participating people, making inclusion an objective.
As every year since it was decreed on April 6. Mexico has joined the commemoration, as well as the “White Card” campaign.
From March 21 to April 6, each organization named their “Sports Ambassadors” (outstanding athletes in each of their sports, Olympic medalists and world champions) to participate in the campaign in order became spokespersons for sport and peace, sharing and multiplying your message and image through publications on different social networks.
The Mexico´s Chamber of Senators received the representatives of the initiative in its plenary session, granting recognition to all participating athletes.
The organizers were the United Nations, Mexico, Peace and Sports, the United States Embassy in Mexico, the Mexican Olympic Association, the Mexican Olympic Committee, the Mexican Soccer Federation, the World Boxing Council, the Mexican Baseball League, the Mexican Paralympic Committee, the Mexican Sports Council and the Association of Olympic Medalists of Mexico.
