“Sting Rey” vows it frankly won`t be comfortable for Manzanilla
On February 9 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, Rey Vargas will defend his WBC super bantamweight crown against the dangerous Venezuelan Franklin Manzanilla who says the Champ has never faced a rival quite like him.
First to speak, Rey Vargas said he`s grateful to have fights and rivals that extend him, opening wide the international window he deserves, commenting: “I am convinced that it`ll be a complicated defense, but for that I am getting prepared for. I want to face the best. I’ve done all my championship fights outside of Mexico and I’m going for more. I want to establish myself as a boxing star and I’ll only achieve it by winning out of the comfort zone.”
Franklin Manzanilla who linked by phone from his camp in Colombia said the fight will not reach the twelve rounds, as Vargas will taste the power of his fists, just like his compatriot Julio Ceja did.
“I am a fighter of convictions and especially of challenges. I recognize the quality of the champion, but I assure you that he has never faced anyone like me. I’m ready for a power fight and I will take home the green and gold title.”
