The WBC has been following the recent ongoing legal proceedings involving WBC Silver Light Heavyweight Champion Marcus Browne, including the pending charges of violation of protection orders concerning domestic violence allegations.
The WBC, as a matter of policy: (a) takes very seriously charges like those leveled against Champion Browne; and (b) categorically rejects the commission of any acts of domestic violence.
One of the guiding principles of the WBC, however, is to afford every person the right to defend him or herself, and to allow all relevant facts of legal proceedings to come out in the proper light and forum. Further, the WBC also has an obligation to make sure any inquiry, investigation or ruling it undertakes concerning pending charges do not interfere with Champion Browne’s ongoing legal process. For those reasons, the WBC will continue to monitor the matter, and will wait until the ongoing legal process comes to a conclusion or final adjudication before making a final pronouncement on the matter.
