Status of the Weight Monitoring Program: “Weighing in the dressing room”
Weight has always been the enemy of the boxer.
So rules have changed and procedures have been established to continue taking care of the physical integrity plus well being of fighters.
The World Boxing Council is implementing a weighing system on the same day of the fight.
The fighters must be weighed in the dressing room of the arena where the fight will take place. Although it is an unofficial weigh in, it must be done to monitor that it does not exceed 10 percent of what the boxers tipped during the official weighing.
This special weigh in will be coordinated by the supervisor of the WBC and the local Boxing Commission.
