Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we welcomed our SPECIAL OLYMPICS MEXICO allies, to celebrate a year full of activities, camaraderie and triumphs.
The Special Olympics World Games are the largest inclusive sporting event in the world. Thousands of athletes compete together and in this edition they were held from June 17 to 25, 2023, in Berlin, Germany.
The World Games turned out to be a colorful international sports festival, with the aim of achieving greater recognition and social participation of people with disabilities in our society. Through the power of sport, people with disabilities discover new strengths and abilities. The athletes inspired people in their communities to expand criteria to welcome functional diversity and to build a broader world.
Team México won more than thirty medals in Berlin. A brilliant achievement!
Today, the World Boxing Council reaffirms its commitment to SPECIAL OLYMPICS, but above all to the athletes who make up this group, who with their example, dedication, love and honesty, motivate us to continue making efforts to create a society in which everyone is included.
*People with disabilities make up 15% of the world’s population. Many times, this group of people encounter great difficulties in society and are frequently subject to stigmatization and discrimination.
