The December 7 fight between Silver welterweight champion Souleymane Cissokho and Egidijus Kavaliauskas has been postponed after Cissokho injured one of his hands in sparring.
Boxium Promotions announced that the fight, which would also be a WBC 147-pound eliminator, to be held in Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, will be postponed until further notice.
In a statement, the promotion company said: “Following medical advice, it was determined that Souleymane is unable to compete at his best level. The health and safety of our athletes remains our top priority. We wish Souleymane a speedy recovery and will soon announce a new date for the fight.”
Frenchman Cissoko, Olympic gold medalist in Rio 2016, has a record of 17-0 (9), while Kavaliauskas, 36, has a record of 24-2-1 (19 KOs)..
