Smith and Zepeda edge towards clash in Steel City for WBC Silver title

On March 23rd Matchroom Boxing presents at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, with super lightweight contender Dalton Smith (15-0, 11 KOs) against twice world title challenger José ‘Chon’ Zepeda (37 -4, 28 KOs) for the Silver title of the World Boxing Council.

In his most recent fight, Dalton reinforced the metttle of his credentials with a sterling performance, impressively defeating Sam Maxwell with a thunderbolt seventh-round one-punch knockout in Sheffield, to add the Commonwealth super-lightweight title to his British title.

Zepeda from California, has challenged for the 140-pound title twice. He came up short on the judges’ scorecards when he faced José Carlos Ramírez for the WBC crown in 2019 before suffering an 11th-round knockout against Regis Prograis for the same title in November 2022.
