Shields vs. Hammer… an igniting match
Claressa Shields (8-0, 2 KO) and Christina Hammer (24-0, 11 KO) fight this Saturday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Two of the best pound for pound, the two current middleweight champions who will unify the division in a match that will be broadcast live on Showtime. Shields and Hammer had planned to fight in November 2018, but an injury to Christina slowed the plans. Now the German of Kazakh origin is 100% ready for this important commitment. Hammer has had a long reign as a champion and at 28 years of age, she is in the best moment of her career.
For her part, Shields is the favorite of the American public. She participated in the first Olympic Games in London 2012, and won the gold medal, repeating this important feat in Rio 2016, after which she decided to jump into professional boxing.
In four fights she became world champion. Now, at only 24, she has three of the four 160-pound belts and is very motivated to face Hammer.
