While in the main support fight, Alycia Baumgardner, WBC super featherweight champion, faces IBF and WBO champion Mikaela Mayer on Saturday,at The O2 Arena in London.
Shields’ fight against Marshall generates maximum interest because there is a rivalry of years between them.
The two met in amateur boxing, with Marshall defeating Shields by decision in 2012 in Qinhuangdao, China. Shields went 77-1 as an amateur and is the only female boxer to win undisputed titles in two divisions as a professional.
The World Boxing Council will honor the Memory of Queen Elizabeth II with the Creation of the “Elizabeth II” a special belt that will be awarded to the winner of this Historic Fight.
This Thursday both fighters breezed through the final press conference of this long-awaited fight.
“I have always said that women’s boxing can sell and that I was the one. There will be 20,000 fans at the O2 Arena and I’ve been training till I drop. When I leave the ring on Saturday night, Savannah Marshall will be silenced and I will be the undisputed middleweight champion of the world,” Shields vowed.
“Shields has had a lot to say about me, but she doesn’t bother me. I don’t care what she thinks about anything, she’s not one of my friends or family, so her opinion means nothing to me. We’ll talk in the ring on Saturday night: I’ll take her to deep water and drown her in the Thames,” Marshall said.
