September 16 weekend

September 16 is the biggest holiday for Mexico as it marks its Independence. Such celebration has extended to the USA through the so many Mexican nationals who immigrated to the neighbor country. Along with Cinco de Mayo, special celebrations have been a tradition surrounding the weekend of these 2 important dates and several decades ago a tradition began to promote boxing as part of these festivities. Some of the greatest fighters have fought in these boxing cards including Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ruben Olivares, Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar Delahoya, Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez, to name a few, even Tyson Fury fought at the MGM back in 2019.
