In the co-main event of the night, Sebastian Fundora reaffirmed his top rung place atop the WBC super welterweight division with a technical TKO victory over Tim Tszyu after seven intense rounds, as the Australian fighter did not come out for the eighth.
Fundora took control from the opening bell, dropping Tszyu in the very first round with a stunnning, left hook. His towering frame—standing at 1.98 meters (6’5 and a half inches)—and exceptional eighty inch reach kept Tszyu, the son of legendary fighter Kostya Tszyu, at a constant disadvantage throughout the bout.
Though Tszyu showed signs of adaptability, closing in, delivering crisp right hands and once again bloodying Seb’s nose, yet at the cost of a cut to the side of his right eye. His best round was the seventh, yet the physical and mental pressure imposed and inflicted by by Fundora ultimately proved too much.
“I tried to give it my all, but it just wasn’t my night,” the Australian admitted post-fight.
The victory improves Fundora’s record to 23-1-1 (15 KOs) and solidifies his status as the undisputed champion at 154 pounds. Combining an imposing physical presence with refined pinpoint technique, Fundora made it clear his dominance is no fluke—and he’s just getting started.
“Obviously, I’m the biggest guy out there… let’s start intimidating these guys,” Fundora declared confidently, but also depreciatingly, tongue in cheek.
With this performance, Fundora sends a strong message to the rest of the division: the “Towering Inferno” is only heating up and simmering.
