The first fastidious press conference was held for what will be one of the best fight cards of the year.
June 19 will be a big day for boxing, as not only will Manny Pacquiao return, but Sebastian Fundora will defend his WBC super welterweight world championship against Tim Tszyu.
“Towering Inferno” and “Soul Taker” faced each other just over a year ago in one of the best fights of 2024. A lot of blood was spilled and Fundora won by split decision.
Both warriors were present and correct at the press conference, with some well chosen words.
Sebastian Fundora:
“I’m very happy to be back against an incredible opponent. Last time, we put on a great show, and I’m pretty sure we’ll do it again. I’m ready to show everyone why I’m the best 154-pound middleweight in the world.
“I keep getting better, and all the stars are aligning for me. We’re getting more and more formidable and fighting on these big stages. Every step is a mile long, but if I listen to what my father says, I’ll be ready.
“I hope Tim has fully recovered from the cut. I hope it’s an incredible fight.”
Tim Tszyu:
“I want that belt, and I want that title. But it’s not just about the belt; it’s about history and redemption. We had a tough fight, and it’s something I need to redeem. It’s one of those things I need to correct.
“Fundora is a great boxer and the current king of the 154-pound division, but it’s my turn to claim the throne. We’re going to give them a great show.
“This is the most important fight for me. It ignites this burning fire in me. It’s the first rematch of my career, and I’m excited to have the chance to correct my mistake.”
