The wait will soon be over, because this coming September 17th the WBC super-middleweight world champion and the former middleweight monarch Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will fight Gennady GGG Golovkin for the third time, in an epic.
These two titans are getting ready right now because each is determined to define the decider. Fight one between Saúl and Gennady ended in a draw and the second was won by Canelo, via majority decision.
Today, with the trilogy set, both are hard at work in training camp.
Complying with all the protocols established by the WBC, both fighters have shown their total willingness to cooperate with all VADA requirements, since Saúl Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin belong to the Clean Boxing Program (CBP), for which both will be subject to random tests for their fight on September 17.
It should be noted that the priority of the WBC is to work on education and awareness to help everyone involved in the sport learn the dangers of the use of performance-enhancing substances (PED´s), which culminate in creating significant health issues for anyone consuming and real dangers to rivals.
The program is ambitious, and its main objective, apart from testing, is to educate athletes about the danger and disadvantages that doping can cause, as well as the penalties of testing positive for prohibited substances, in or out of competition.
We want to recognize and applaud the disposition and openess that both boxers have shown, clearly demonstrating their dedication about the well-being and respect of our beloved sport.
