Salvatore Cherchi is a crucial, pivotal and constant driving force, involved with  Italy`s success in Boxing, on the European and World Level.

An annual attendee at the World Boxing Conventions all around the World, over the years, he is a voice of experience who doesn`t flinch, hesitate or ever shy away, from fighting the corner of his boxers, especially in the marathon-like Mandatory Defences and Ratings Sessions.

Slim, stylish, normally attired in a suit adorned by a silk tie, Salvatore is erudite, polite, persistent and on occasion insistent. He`s skilled and seasoned at getting across his point, using the spice of humor and barb of charm, reinforced by an iron-willed determination. He cut his teeth with OPI 82, which he founded in that same year, together with Umberto Branchini and Umberto`s son Giovanni. Umberto is the only Italian Boxing Manager thus far, voted into the International Hall of Boxing Fame in Canastota.

Salvatore was co-owner of OPI from 1982-1990.  That team promoted a galaxy of rising stars and Champions including: Loris Stecca, Maurizio Stecca, Valerio Nati, Kamel Bou Ali and Francisco Damiani.  They also brought a galaxy lineup of US Stars to Italy to thrill the fans.  Those greats were: Vinny Pazienza, Meldrick Taylor, Rocky Lockridge, Tyrell Briggs, Leon Spinks and Mike McCallum.

Salvatore went on to found  OPI 2000 and it`s produced, nurtured and developed an array of Greats including WBC super-middleweight champion Vincenzo Nardiello, WBC cruiserweight champion Giacobbe Fragomeni and WBC flyweight champion Simona Galassi. Its a tripartite ongoing effort, because Salvatore is ably and devotedly helped by his sons Christian and Alessandro. United they stand.

Italy which has cohorts and legions of boxing fans is a real power presence entity in the world of Boxing.  During the past forty years, Italy has created, crowned and celebrated eighteen world champions. Twelve of them were promoted or managed by SalvatoreCherchi. His character trademarks and hallmarks are: Tenacity, ingenuity, loyalty, determination, persistence and grit. This has firmly placed Italy on the world class status level.
