World Boxing Council flyweight champion Julio César Martínez, fights Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo on Saturday, June 25 at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, in packed card headed by the American Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez, defending his WBC super flyweight title against former Thai world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
Martinez and Arroyo clashed last year in a fight that ended prematurely, due to an accidental crack of heads in the third round.

In the second round, with greater power and precision, Martínez applied severe pressure, but both had a clash of heads that left two cuts on the Puerto Rican’s eyelid and eyebrow.
For the third round, at the request of the Referee, the ring doctor came up and when checking on McWilliams he realized that he his vision was impaired, due to swelling. So the Referee halted the fight, which was declared a “No contest”.
Martínez showed that he is in great physical condition in a training session open to the media.
