World Boxing Council super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez has defended his crown twice in Fresno, California, but this time he`s travelling to Texas, which is the home turf of his next opponent.
Ramirez (24-0, 16 KOs) will face WBO champion and Dallas based Maurice Hooker (26-0-3, 17 KOs) on July 27 at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas. The fight will be broadcast live on the DAZN platform.
“I told my manager, Rick Mirigian, that I wanted to fight against Maurice Hooker. I know this fight can take my career to the next level. I want to make it easier for people to decide who really is the best super lightweight in the world,” stressed Ramirez.
Hooker describes himself as a “Dream killer” and believes Ramirez will be his next victory.
“I’m glad that the fight with Ramirez has been arranged. I’m sure I’m better than him and I’ll prove it on July 27. I’m going to keep his belt and clearly show that I’m the best in the world,” said Maurice.
