Former world champions José Carlos Ramírez and José Pedraza were present at a press conference prior to the fight they will hold on Friday night at the Save Mart Center in Fresno.
Both fighters posed for the photographers with the Ukrainian flag, as a show of support for the country, in the face of military aggression by the Russian Federation.
This was something that the protagonists of the evening commented on:
Jose Carlos Ramirez
“My goal is to compete at the highest level, and to be the world champion again. You have to fight the best and be ready for those tough fights.
“I don’t want easy fights. If I can dominate him, I can dominate anybody. at 140. I want to earn a world title shot with my actions. I’m motivated and happy to go out there and show my best, and give the fans a great performance.
“The winner will have an imminent shot at the world title. That’s the only thing I’ve been thinking about the whole training camp. I’m working hard to learn from my mistakes and be world champion again. I’m hungry.”
Jose Pedraza
“For me, it would mean a lot to be champion for the third time. It would put my name alongside the great legends of Puerto Rico and it would mean a lot to my island as well.
“I’m already used to fighting in enemy territory from amateur boxing days. These are things that happen in boxing. I only believe in the hard work, in the training that I did and in my ability. I am very excited, happy for this opportunity against José Ramírez, I am ready to fight on Friday”.
