Hungry Ryan “Kingry” Garcia needed just 1:20 minutes to stop former Nicaraguan world challenger Francisco Fonseca in the first round, in the main event presented by Golden Boy Promotions at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
After trading punches, Garcia planted powerful left hook on the chin of Fonseca, for over and out!
Referee Raul Caíz Sr., realized that Fonseca was poleaxed and abandoned the count. So an early bath and an early night.
“I expected it to last a little longer,” said Ryan Garcia. “When I saw Fonseca move to the side, it gave me the opportunity to catch him. It was a perfect left hook.”
With this victory, Garcia improves his record to 20-0, with 17 knockouts, defending for the first time his lightweight silver title of the World Boxing Council.
