
In a tremendous tribute, the WBC and the entire boxing family recognized the great Puerto Rican boxing star Miguel Ángel Cotto, who has gen us fabulous performances that led him to be inducted into the International Hall of Fame in Canastota.
Cotto, who shone brilliantly since his beginnings in amateur boxing, quickly established himself in the professional ranks, with an outstanding career where he built a record of 46 wins, 33 by way of knockout and 6 losses, and conquered 4 world divisions.
During his time as pro, Miguel faced the best of the best, including Sergio Martinez, Joshua Clottey, Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Saul Alvarez and more.
The multiple world champion said goodbye to the ring in 2017, but he did not put aside his passion for boxing because he became a promoter and in this stage he now seeks to return the golden age of boxing to his native Puerto Rico.
Visibly moved by this tribute, Miguel remembered Don José Sulaimán, who in his first years as a professional gave him the opportunity to compete for a WBC title.
For Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC, Miguel is an example of struggle and perseverance, of a boxer who, based on discipline and love of the sport, conquered his dreams and today reaps the fruits of his efforts.
Then former world champion Daniel Zaragoza and the organization’s President presented Miguel with the Green and Gold Bracelet, so that he always remembers the love and admiration that the boxing family has for him.
