
US Super lightweight southpaw Regis Progais defeated former world champion Terry Flanagan from Britain by unanimous decision, as part of the World Boxing Super Series tournament, at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Prograis was in charge throughout the fight. It almost ended when Prograis knocked Flanagan down in the eighth round, with a hard left to the body, which had him gasping. The intrepid Englishman, got up to weather considerable punishment in this round, but managed to survive and fight back.
The judges’ scores were 119-108, 118-109 and 117-110, all in favor of Prograis, who improved his record to 23-0, with 19 knockouts, while Flanagan dropped to 33-2, with 13 knockouts.
The next challenge from the WBC Diamond champ, Regis Prograis, will be the Belarusian Kiryl Relikh.
