Two legends of Mexican boxing and members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Humberto “Chiquita” González and Juan Manuel Márquez combine to continue supporting young prospects and future stars of national boxing as they initiate with a series of boxing cards that will take place midweek, every Wednesday of each month at the BlackBery Auditorium in Mexico City.
“It is a great pleasure to continue supporting young people who want to be world champions, who see their great opportunity in boxing, and it is also a great pleasure for us now to unite with Juan Manuel Márquez, as we know many youngsters want to emulate him,” said Humberto “Chiquita” González when referring to this grand alliance with “Dinamita” Márquez.
“We want to offer new opportunities to young boxers and in ProBox all partners are people who made their lives inside the ring, who know what it costs to win a fight and we are working, so that soon we can have the opportunity to crown a world champion,” said Márquez.
The first show will take place on Wednesday, February 8, with Alejandro González facing Bryan “Azteca” Rivera in the main fight of a 10-round super bantamweight bout.
González, who has a record of 12-5-2, 7 via KO, will seek his first win of the year when he faces “Azteca” Rivera 11-3, 9 KOs , who searches ou more success after his last victory, which occurred in October 2022. Both know that a victory will lead them to more important challenges, with the support of Chiquita González and JM Márquez.
The semifinal fight will be between Erick “Pulga” Araujo (9-1, 6 KOs) vs Iván “Magnífico” García (8-2-1, 5 KOs), which will be an 8-round bout in the light flyweight division and without a clear favorite, the second with a little more experience in the professional field.
Pulga Araujo closed last year with a victory after losing his undefeated record against Jesús Haro, but he wants another victory that will lead him to sterner challenges after two years of promising career. While the Magnificent García only had one fight last year and he lost it in Panama, so now he wants to rediscover victory.
ProBox TV, in which Márquez is a partner with Pauli Malignaggi, Miguel Cotto and Roy Jones Jr, has a lot of activity in the United States and Puerto Rico. Now, they will have the opportunity to be in Mexico, in search of the stars and super novas of tomorrow
