Porter won`t be haunted by “The Ghost”
On March 9, in a Premier Boxing Champions card in Las Vegas, Shawn Porter who`s the WBC welterweight champion will make the first defense of his Green and Gold belt against Cuban Yordenis Ugas.
Porter defined Ugas as a “ghost” at 147 pounds, pointing out that very few calibrated the talent of the Olympic medalist in professional boxing.
“This is a similar thing to what happened to me in 2013, when I defeated Devon Alexander,” said Porter. “No one knew who I was. It was supposed to be another victory for Devon Alexander but I defeated him. I will not allow that to happen to me with Ugás. Not a ghost of a chance!”
Porter knows Ugás because both had a sparring session when the Cuban was preparing for his fight against Levan Ghvamichava in February 2017.
