The World Boxing Council introduced the commemorative “Aztec Warrior” belt to celebrate important bouts between Mexican fighters, honoring the rich history of boxing in this country.
This prestigious belt pays tribute to legendary rivalries such as Morales vs. Barrera, Chavez vs. De la Hoya, Zarate vs. Zamora, Torres vs. Nava, and the iconic Israel Vazquez vs. Rafael Marquez quartet, among many others.
The inaugural “Aztec Warrior” belt was awarded to the winner of the February 1st showdown between Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz of Mexico City and Angel “Tashiro” Fierro of Tijuana at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Former Mexican world champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz dished out a great display of power, defeating his compatriot Angel “Tashiro” Fierro by unanimous decision on Saturday night in a preliminary fight on the “David Benavidez vs Davis Morrell” card, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fight was unremitting and thrilling. Both fighters gave their absolute all in the ring, and at the end of 10 rounds, Cruz won with cards of 96-94, 97-93 and 98-92, to take home the first “Guerrero Azteca” belt of the World Boxing Council, in honor of Israel “Magnífico” Vázquez, who recently passed away from cancer.
Today, during our Martes de Café, we had the honor to count with the attendance of the great Mexican superstar Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz in order to be officially presented with the Aztec Warrior Belt in honor of the legendary Israel Vazquez.

“We thank the WBC family for the opportunity to be here. My family for all their support at all times. The media for their coverage.
“We went there to do our job. We focused on training to entertain them and give them a good fight. We have worked hard for years, things have worked out. My team has been instrumental, each of us fights the fights that we have to fight to continue getting success. We are going to rest and talk about what our future holds.
I am not closed to any name. I am open to big fights.”

“I can tell you that I have rarely seen a boxer with such a close family: with his parents, with his wife, with his two children.
“Whether in Las Vegas or Chapultepec, they are always united. What humility, simplicity and dedication. I am sure that “Pitbull” will continue achieving greatness.
Isaac Cruz is a reality and there will be “Pitbull” for a long time.”
Isaac was also presented with a WBC Green and Gold Champion’s Bracelet.
