Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Angel “Tashiro” Fierro will face each other on Saturday, February 1 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, as part of a great card organized by Premier Boxing Champions.
Pitbull Cruz is determined to bounce back from a close defeat against Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela last August.
“That defeat was a learning experience in general, We continue to strengthen ourselves and we are going to show what we worked on in the camp with a great fight,” said Cruz.
While Fierro will seek to take advantage and obtain a victory to catapult his career.
“We know that Cruz is a great fighter, he has already tasted the honey of the world championship, but I also want to try it. We will see how he reacts on Saturday, when he has a front line.”
Both fighters passed the official weigh-in on Friday without problems. Cruz weighed in at 138.6 pounds, while Fierro weighed in at 139 pounds.
For the winner of this bout, the World Boxing Council will award the commemorative “Guerrero Azteca” belt, which celebrates important fights between Mexican boxers, honoring the rich history of boxing in this country.
This prestigious belt pays tribute to legendary rivalries such as Morales vs. Barrera, Chavez vs. De la Hoya, Zarate vs. Zamora, Torres vs. Nava and the iconic Israel Vazquez vs. Rafael Marquez series, among many others.
As a touching tribute, Cruz and Fierro will compete for this special belt in honor of the unforgettable Israel “Magnifico” Vazquez, whose passing in December left an indelible mark on boxing..
