World Boxing Council lightweight champion, Belgian Delfine Persoon, aims to unify her crown against Olympic champion 2012, Irish Katie Taylor, on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The 34-year-old Persoon has a phenomenal record of 43 wins with 18 knockouts and only one loss. She has been WBC champion for five years, making nine successful defenses. This will be the first time that Delfine fights outside Europe when she goes up against Taylor to define the best 135-pounder in the world.
Taylor (13-0 6KOs), 32, won her first world title in just her seventh professional fight. The keenly anticipated combat will be part of the card starring Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz.
