Former Puerto Rican champion Jose “Sniper” Pedraza (26-3, 13 Ko’s) will face Trinidad and Tobago born and New York resident Mikkel LesPierre (22-1-1, 10 Ko’s), in a superlight bout Thursday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
It’s a Top Rank promotion and will be broadcasted on ESPN.
The co-star fight will be Gabriel Flores (17-0, 6 KO) against Honduran fighter Jose Ruiz (21-2-3, 14 KO).
Pedraza, who previously reigned as a monarch in super featherweight and lightweight divisions, will seek to add his name to an exclusive list of Puerto Rican boxers in conquering three or more divisions championships. He aims to emulate Wilfredo “Bazooka” Gómez, Félix “Tito” Trinidad and Miguel Cotto.
For his part, LesPierre, who volunteered to help the health services of New York, attending the counter of a hospital for the care of patients of Covid-19, is highly motivated to return to the ring.
