July 27th, 1991.- Pernell Whitaker, one of the best southpaws of boxing history, successfully defended his lightweight crown, defeating Spanish challenger, Policarpo “Poli” Díaz, by unanimous decision. The fight took place at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The Referee was Al Rothenberg.
