Vicente Saldívar, Mexican southpaw supreme, defended the WBC featherweight championship after defeating Howard Winstone, from Wales, by TKO in 12 rounds at minute 2 with 10 seconds after, Winstone´s manager, Eddie Thomas, threw in the towel. The Referee, Ramon Berumen, stopped the Fight at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. After this victory, Saldivar announced his retirement, but he would return to the ring years later.
