2003.- Roy Jones Jr dropped back down to light heavyweight against Antonio Tarver and won the WBC title. Jones Jr secured victory via a disputed majority decision in his 50th fight, eight months after he had beaten John Ruiz to became the first middleweight in over a century to claim the heavyweight crown. Tarver would gain revenge six months later when he upset the odds and handed Jones his first knockout of his career by stopping him in two rounds in their rematch to regain the 178 lbs titles. A third fight between the pair the following year saw Tarver claim victory by a unanimous verdict to settle their trilogy. Jones Jr continued to fight on but never won another world title and finally called time on his 75-fight career after almost three decades as a professional in February, 2018.
