1976 – Carlos Monzon, considered by many to be one of the best middleweights in history, defended his WBC 160-pound crown by defeating Rodrigo Valdez via UD in a 15-round fight. This was Monzón’s penultimate fight before retirement.
2001 – Legendary champion Konstantin Tszyu defended his WBC super lightweight belt, defeating challenger Oktay Urkal via unanimous decision.
2021 – Julio César “Rey” Martínez gave a sample of his quality to retain the World Boxing Council flyweight championship against fellow Mexican Joel Córdova, whom he knocked out in the sixth round.
