1964.- Thai Pone Kingpetch gained revenge over Hiroyuki Ebihara, to win the world flyweight crown a third time.
Kingpetch, who became Thailand’s first world boxing champion when he defeated Pascual Perez in 1960, had been knocked out in one round by the Japanese southpaw four months earlier. However, in the rematch Kingpetch controlled the fight with his jab to secure a split decision and make history as the division’s first three-time champion.
1967.- North American born in Virgin Islands, Emile Griffith, retained his WBC middleweight title, defeating his compatriot Joey Archer by decision at Madison Square Garden in New York.
1968.- The Pride of Wales Howard Winstone won the WBC featherweight title, defeating Japan`s Mitsunori Seki by decision, at London`s Royal Albert Hall.
2016.- Danny Garcia became WBC welterweight champion, defeating Robert Guerrero by unanimous decision, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
