On this day in history, Sammy Angott defeats previously unbeaten Willie Pep

Lightweight world Champion, Sammy Angott, defeated then unbeaten, Willie Pep, who was featherweight champion. It was a ten round unanimous decison. Pep suffered his first lost on 65 matches. This didn’t discourage Willie one jot. He went on to become the best featherweight in all history.
