On this day in history, Patterson makes heavyweight history
November 30, 1956
Floyd Patterson stopped Archie Moore in five rounds to become the youngest world heavyweight champion. The 21-year-old replaced Joe Louis in the record books after dropping Moore twice in the fifth to claim Rocky Marciano’s vacated crown.
Patterson’s record would stand until MIke Tyson won the WBC title at 20.
