Frenchman Nordine Oubaali will defend his WBC bantamweight title, for the first time on July 6 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, against Filipino Arthur Villanueva, on a card that will be broadcast live by ESPN.
Oubaali (15-0, 11 KO) defeated Rau’shee Warren to win the vacant 118-pound belt on January 19 in Las Vegas. The bout was a curious rematch, since Oubaali also defeated Warren in the 2012 Olympics. The 32-year-old lefty is a twice Olympian and is the favorite in this fight.
Villanueva (32-3-1, 18 KO) is a 30-year-old fighter who has been a professional since 2008, and is confident that his experience will lead him to conquer the WBC’s Green and Gold Crown.
