Bantamweight Champion of the WBA and IBF, Japanese Naoya “Monster” Inoue, will face the Bantamweight Champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), the Filipino Nonito Donaire, in a rematch unification match that will take place this Tuesday, June 7, at the Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
The fight is organized by Hideyuki Ohashi of Phoenix Promotions and will be broadcast on ESPN in the Americas.
This Monday in Japan, the official weigh-in fight took place. Inoue weighed 118 pounds, while Donaire was 117.8lbs.
At the weigh-in ceremony, the World Championship rules were read, and the gloves that both fighters will use were approved. Inoue will enter the ring with Cleto Reyes, while Donaire will do so with Everlast gloves.
In December 2019, the “Monster” Inoue and the “Filipino Flash” Donaire met for the first time. It was a glorious war, and it was so dramatic that it was one of the very best fights of 2019.
