Englishman Nick Bell successfully defended his World Boxing Council Featherweight Silver title, defeating South African Ludumo Lamati by technical knockout in the twelfth round, at The SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The fight was close to its end, with Ball was punishing Lamati, when the South African’s corner threw in the towel. Lamati was upset by referee Kevin Parker’s decision to intervene, but it was the corner that asked to stop the fight.
Lamati unfortunately collapsed in his corner, he was assisted by the medical team and had to be transferred to a nearby hospital where he is under hospital care and receiving proper care.
During the match, Ball initially struggled to come to terms with Lamati`s height and reach. But little by little he was deciphering the South African boxer, connecting accurately with the strongest and most forceful blows.
With this victory, Ball improved his record to 18-0, with 11 knockouts, while Lamati dropped to 21-1-1, with 11 knockouts.
