Japanese Naoya Inoue, unified WBC and WBO super bantamweight world champion, received the belts that credit him as champion in a ceremony held at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Japan Boxing Commission (JBC) Secretary General Tsuyoshi Yasukochi presented the WBC belt to Naoya and his father and coach Shingo Inoue presented him with the special trainer belt.
Inoue said in the ring, amid applause from the visitors: “Thank you all so much for your support on July 25. Before I knew it, I was in the fourth division and achieving another important victory. It was a very satisfying experience. “I think I can become a unified champion soon in this division.”
“We are currently in negotiations, but I will continue to work hard to face the other champion in my division, Marlon Tapales, before the end of this year, so you will see me soon when I step into the ring again. Thank you for the support of all the people.”
