Mexican star Jaime Munguia will defend his WBC Silver super middleweight title against undefeated contender Erik Bazinyan next Friday, September 20 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Eye of the Tiger, Zanfer Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, Munguia-Bazinyan and other exciting fights will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. Sky Sports will have coverage in the UK and Ireland.
Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs) continues his active 2024 campaign, which began in January in Phoenix when he stopped former British world title challenger John Ryder in nine rounds.
He faced fellow compatriot Canelo Alvarez shortly after, getting up off the canvas in the fourth round to lose a unanimous decision in an entertaining all-Mexican encounter.
Bazinyan (32-0-1, 23 KOs), an 11-year pro from Armenia, moved to Canada as a teenager and has since become one of Quebec’s most popular attractions.
A regional champion since 2018, he has fought his last seven fights in Montreal, including a sixth-round knockout win over American veteran Ronald Ellis last October.
In 2024, Bazinyan has also been active, knocking out Billi Facundo Godoy in three rounds in January and earning a 10-round draw against Shakeel Phinn in May.
Tickets for the 12-round super middleweight showdown between the two are ON SALE NOW via Ticketmaster.com.
