
World Boxing Council flyweight champion, Charlie Edwards from Britain, will defend his crown on Saturday, August 31 against Mexican Julio César Martínez (14-1-0, 11 Ko’s) at the O2 Arena in London, as part of the card starring Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko and the local Luke Campbell.
Edwards (15-1-0, 12 Ko’s), comes from defeating Spaniard Ángel Moreno by wide unanimous decision, in his first defense of his world title.
For his part Martinez comes from winning a final elimination by stopping Welshman Andrew Selby.
As part of the WBC safety regulations, both fighters have successfully submitted their pre-weigh ins of 30 and 14 days, But they must still submit the required medical exams before their title match.
