Months after the knockout suffered in the 12th round at the hands of Masanori Rikiishi that cost him the WBC Silver super featherweight crown after having dominated the lion`s share of the fight, Michael Magnesi is physically and mentally renewed to once again set out in hot pursuit of his dream, to conquer the Green and Gold world title of the World Boxing Council.
Magnesi will fight on October 26 in Tolfa, Rome, against Nicaraguan Darwing Martinez.
Darwing Martinez, a globe trotting 26-year-old fighter, who as a professional has already fought in six different countries. He surprised the then undefeated British rising star Andre Grant last year, winning all the rounds, inflicting his first defeat on him. This time around he will be setting an exacting test for Magnesi.
The ideal thing for the Italian boxer would be to fight the full eight rounds, to regain confidence in his skills, fine-tune the mechanisms that were bringing him closer to a world opportunity and prepare for the challenging fights that undoubtedly await him on the horizon.
“After this fight and success Michael and I want to return to fight for the WBC Silver title. We will try to close this agreement with the organization at its next Convention in Hamburg in December. But FOR now we are thinking about Michael’s return fight, here we must do well and show that we are better than ever,” said Alessandra Branco, Magnesi’s wife and promoter.
