
The world champion siblings, Sebastián and Gabriela Fundora, were the subject of a well-deserved tribute this Wednesday afternoon in the Senate of Mexico.
The “Towering Inferno” Sebastián Fundora, current super welterweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization, and his sister the “Sweet Poison” Gabriela Fundora, world flyweight champion of the International Boxing Federation, were recognized in a ceremony led by Miguel Ángel Mancera, accompanied by Senator Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong.
Sebastian Fundora won the WBC and WBO 154-pound championships, after defeating Australian Tim Tszyu by split decision (112-116, 115-113 and 116-112) on March 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Gabriela Fundora won the IBF world flyweight championship, by knocking out Arely “Ametralladora” Muciño in five rounds, on October 21 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. She later successfully defended it by knocking out Christina Cruz on January 27 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona..
