This coming Saturday July 15, at the “Restaurant Arroyo” located at Avenida Insurgentes Sur 4003 in Mexico City, the WBC ranked 3, Mexican Alan David ‘Rey David’ Picasso (24-0-1, 13 KOs) will face Sabelo Ngebinyana (15 -6-1, 11 KOs) from Cape Town, South Africa.
It’s an attractive bout presented by Golden Boy in association with Zanfer, where the World Boxing Council Silver super bantamweight title will be at stake.
Picasso has risen through the ranks during the last three years, having defeated strong rivals Víctor Proa, Alexander Mejía, Edixon Pérez, Luis Millán and Kevin Villanueva. With a powerful hook to the body, a strong left hand and excellent footwork, Picasso will look to show the world that he is ready for great things in boxing.
While Ngebinyana, a southpaw, is used to fighting away from home, possessing great power and an aggressive style, upon which he will draw, to try and win the prestigious WBC Silver title. That would have a big impact on his career.
In his most recent fight he drew against Tony Rashid.
To complete the card there will be interesting combats. At featherweight Rafael Espinoza will face Ally Mwerangi in a 10-round bout.
In super middleweight, Aaron Silva will face Hassam Valenzuela scheduled for 8 rounds.
Gregory Morales will fight Rodolfo Montoya in 6 rounds, in a scheduled super bantamweight bout.
At super lightweight, Johnny Canas will face Hugo Vega over four rounds.
The World Boxing Council is proud to be part of this card, which marks the return of high-quality boxing to Mexico City, with two world ranked boxers fighting for the prestigious Silver title.
The WBC has sought for some time the return of the big cards to Mexico City and this is the beginning of promising battles that we will see in the near future.
This Friday the official weigh-in of the evening took place. David ‘King David’ Picasso made 121.4 pounds, while Ngebinyana weighed in at 120.8 pounds.
