
During the 62nd World Boxing Council Convention in Hamburg, Mauricio Sulaiman and Turki Alalshikh announced that starting next year the ‘Boxing Grand Prix’ will be held.
A tournament that seeks to discover promising young prospects at a world level and that has its start date in February. It will be divided into five dates, in total there will be 128 boxers who will seek to demonstrate that they have the quality to conquer glory.
In this first edition of the ‘Grand Prix’ there will only be four divisions, Featherweight, Super Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight. But in addition, another of the features of this contest is that the boxers will have an age limit which cannot exceed 26 years.
Likewise, boxers with more than 10 professional fights will not be able to participate, as the idea is to promote all young talents at a world level.
The ‘Grand Prix’ will start from quarter-finals, in which the fights will be eight rounds, as well as the semi-final round, and then in the finals there will be 10 rounds.
This Pole Position ‘Grand Prix’ will be a stamping ground goldmine for boxers from all over the world, where the new stars of tomorrow will shine and arise.
